We are fortunate in being able to hold our honey show on the eve of the Romsey Show at Broadlands. This year our members supplied well over 100 entries to the show benches, which kept Claire the honey show judge and our stewards busy until well after dark.
The show benches always attract lots of comments from visitors to the Romsey Show next day, and we are often asked why the jars of honey are all very different. The answer, of course, is that’s what the bees give us. It’s all down to the forage and the environment. Our task as beekeepers is to treat it with the care and respect that it deserves and to present it well.
We also offer candle rolling, display Yellow-legged (Asian) hornet information, sell honey and show live honey bees in an observation hive – the stars of the show. As ever, it’s good to have the opportunity to chat to members of the public about our bees.
