What do we do?

Romsey & District Beekeepers’ Association is a friendly group of beekeepers ranging from decades of experience to none at all.
Membership includes:

  • Indoor meetings from October to March at Romsey Town Hall, Market Pl, Romsey SO51 8YZ. Speakers are interesting and topics are varied, the welcome is warm
  • Outdoor meetings from April to September at members’ apiaries
  • Items of honey and beeswax processing equipment are available on loan to full members

What does membership offer?

All beekeepers are strongly urged to join their local association.
Joining R&DBKA gives you:

  • Access to our meetings and training events
  • A our monthly newsletter, with news, events and practical information
  • Access to experienced local beekeepers who are pleased to share advice!
  • Access to borrow equipment for the processing of honey and wax (full members)
  • public and product liability insurance, and Brood Disease Insurance through BDI Ltd
  • BBKA News – an excellent monthly publication
  • reduced entry fees to BBKA events
  • access to BBKA training, courses and qualifications
  • use of BBKA video and slide Library and advice on all beekeeping matters

How can I join Romsey and District Beekeepers’ Association?

We offer levels of membership to suit all beekeepers, from ‘Introductory’ (no knowledge and no bees) through to ‘Registered’ (full membership including HBA and BBKA, strongly advised for everyone who has bees)

Our affiliation to Hampshire Beekeepers’ Association (HBA)

Romsey is affiliated to HBA. Each full member of a local association is automatically enrolled as members of HBA, which includes:

  • access to an extensive library of books and other media
  • membership of British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA)
  • access to heather permits in the New Forest
  • representation of beekeepers’ interests with local and national bodies at every level
